Library Assistant Needed

As some of you may know, our beloved Heidi retired this fall. We are looking for someone who can fill her shoes! The Cannon Falls Library is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative Library Assistant to perform a broad range of library services for the general public, specializing in developing programs for adults and teens. Activities include: conducting programs for teens and adults and creating promotional items to announce them; assisting the public with the use of modern technology; assisting the Director with community outreach; and contributing to the greater good of the library by supporting broader goals.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to cheerfully and tactfully deal with a wide variety of people; ability to plan, schedule and organize workload; ability to design and implement fun, educational programs; ability to work independently and collaboratively; knowledge of library materials and classification systems; ability to perform clerical work such as using word processing, photocopying, emailing, and Internet tools.

Minimum requirements: High School diploma or GED. Availability to work some week nights and Saturdays.

Desirable qualifications: Experience working in a library and/or strong experience in program and event planning.

Starting Salary: $18.58/hr, minimum 32 hours per week including some weekends and evenings. The position offers health/dental benefits and PTO. For more information about the position, read here.
